This route takes you down the Galloping Goose trail and through the outskirts of the city before getting on a variety of lesser travelled roads through the countryside. Coming home you’ll take the relaxed Lochside Trail and Galloping Goose route.
Elk Lake is home to Canada’s national rowing centre and is a great place for a swim, provided our large local goose population hasn’t been too busy along the shoreline!
Note that there are some hard packed gravel trails along Lochside Trail. They are definitely passable on a road bike but you’ll want to slow down a bit as there is also pedestrian traffic on the trail.
